CURR 251 Teaching Culturally & Linguistically Diverse Learners

This course uses case studies to introduce and increase understanding and acceptance of differences in culture, cultural heritage, ethnicity, language, age, religion, socioeconomic status, gender identity/expression, sexual orientation, and abilities and disabilities of individuals served. Candidates will reflect on personal attitudes to develop cultural competence. In addition to understanding differences, the course also introduces how to apply pedagogical theories, development of academic language, and principles/practices for English language usage to increase comprehension. This course is available to participants who have met Be A Teacher Pre-Service and Intern Program prerequisites. (PBS).
