Day 1: The Fundamentals: Exploring the Coaching Landscape

The coaching relationship is a landscape. It is comprised of the coach’s skills and presence that influence the client’s circumstances and ways of being. We will focus on what we do as coaches and practice the visible skills of masterful coaching, including: levels of listening, pausing, asking permission, dimensions of paraphrasing, powerful questioning, acknowledging. We will also attend to the invisible skills that reflect who we are as coaches, including: creating safety, intuition, empathy, curiosity. Additionally, we will explore the distinctions along the coaching continuum from directive to transformational.
