Year 1 - 2 Induction Mentor Professional Development Nevada County
This optional in-person professional development is in lieu of the online December 2018 and March 5 Professional Development sessions for Mentors. We will meet 112 Nevada City Highway, Houser Room, and will focus on Peer Mentoring and Coaching through discussion and reflection on:
- Pause, paraphrase, inquire, probe and extend – 5 aspects of mentoring conversations (from Mentoring Matters, by Laura Lipton and Bruce Wellman)
- Consult, collaborate and coach – a continuum of consulting interventions (from Mentoring Matters, by Laura Lipton and Bruce Wellman)
- Other questions/concerns regarding the process of providing support to participating teachers that mentors may wish to discuss.
Copies of Mentoring Matters will be available for mentors who do not have their own copies.
The Professional Development option is available to both Year 1 and Year 2 Mentors. Mentors who are supporting both a Year 1 and a Year 2 Candidate Teacher can only use this seminar as a replacement for one of their required December seminars.
