CURR 234 Building Academic Language
This course focuses on theoretical and practical aspects of teaching academic language to all students, including those whose primary language is other than English, and those with a disability. A variety of strategies, instructional approaches, and assessment procedures will be emphasized in order to ensure the candidate’s ability to develop, deliver, integrate, and regularly assess academic vocabulary acquisition, with emphasis on effective reading, speaking, writing, listening and real-world application to meet the educational needs of culturally diverse students. Practicum supervisor will observe course content to ensure that a fluid connection exists between coursework and practice.
