Administrator Induction Program 2018-19 Coaching Institute

Day 1: October 25

Day 2: November 28

Day 3: February 21

This uniquely designed coaching series allows participants to select the session(s) you attend based on your specific interests. Whether you are new to coaching, or a highly experienced coach, the Coaching Institute will undoubtedly expand your repertoire of skills and strategies.

Day 1: The Fundamentals: Exploring the Coaching Landscape

The coaching relationship is a landscape. It is comprised of the coach’s skills and presence that influence the client’s circumstances and ways of being. We will focus on what we do as coaches and practice the visible skills of masterful coaching, including: levels of listening, pausing, asking permission, dimensions of paraphrasing, powerful questioning, acknowledging. We will also attend to the invisible skills that reflect who we are as coaches, including: creating safety, intuition, empathy, curiosity. Additionally, we will explore the distinctions along the coaching continuum from directive to transformational.

Days 2 and 3: Expanding our Repertoire: Advanced Coaching Skills and Strategies

Building on the visible and invisible competencies practiced in Day 1, each day will provide additional practice in selected skills and strategies.

Day 2: The Power of Positivity

Skills and Strategies include:

  • Articulating what is going on, Bottom Lining / Intruding, Championing, Metaview
  • Powerful Questions
  • Neuroscience of Masterful Coaching
  • The Power of Empathy
  • Appreciative Inquiry

Day 3: The Power of Awareness and Choice

Skills and Strategies include:

  • Triple Loop Learning
  • Ladder of Inference
  • Reframing and perspectives

Specific content of Days 2 and 3 might be modified depending on the needs of the participants.
