CURR 232 Curriculum & Instruction: Preparation to Teach Reading/Language Arts
This course provides candidates with a research-based, comprehensive curriculum focused on addressing the foundational, practical, and theoretical aspects of teaching reading, writing, speaking, and listening to a all learners, including struggling readers, English learners, students with special needs, speakers of non-standard English, and advanced learners. Candidates are provided with all elements of reading fluency including explicit instruction in beginning reading skills, phonemic awareness, phonics, word analysis, fluency, vocabulary development, and reading comprehension. Candidates are provided the opportunity to develop, deliver, integrate, and regularly assess the elements of beginning reading that are aligned with the California State Standards.
