NCSOE Be A Teacher Mentor - Professional Development Seminars
This seminar series will provide Mentors working with our North Coast School of Education's "Be A Teacher" Interns the information, support, and resources needed to work with the specific needs of novice teachers in the "Be A Teacher" Intern Program. Each of the three seminars in this series will allow collegial time for Mentors to network and engage with peers, as well as provide the research, trends and theory behind supporting new teachers. With a focus on Tina Boogren's book, Supporting Beginning Teachers, topics will include the "nuts and bolts" of mentoring, the different types of support needed by Interns (i.e., emotional, instructional, institutional), and other helpful strategies such as time management, working with colleagues, etc. Meetings will be held at the Sonoma County Office of Education (SCOE). These sessions are for Mentors only. The Be A Teacher Intern does not attend.
