North Coast School of Education

Professional Coaching and Mentoring Series Part 2 (Mendocino County-MCOE 2/9/17)

Skills and Strategies for Working with Colleagues and Students

Part two of the Coaching and Mentoring Series takes a deeper look at the foundation of Coaching and Mentoring. Mentor Teachers enrolled in this course completed Part One of the Coaching and Mentoring Series during the previous school year or within the past two school years. Professional Coaching and Mentoring Series (Part 2) provides experienced educators with the skills necessary to work as coaches for candidate teachers or other colleagues. This workshop provides strategies that are research-based and have been proven to be effective for adult learners. Topics in this course include a review of paraphrasing and probing for clarity and specificity, and then an interactive coaching and listening section that allows participants to coach, and be coached by, a fellow Mentor Teacher.

This is a required training for all NCTIP mentor teachers and is designed to be taken in sequence, usually in the second year of the program, after Professional Coaching and Mentoring Series Part 1.
